Much was made over the seeming abrogation of the Pontifical Secret on May 9, 2019 with Pope Francis' promulgation of Vos Estis Lux Mundi. As Supreme Lawgiver® the pope is always free to do and tell you what he wants regarding internal Church law, or Canon Law. That was already on display one year before Vos Estis was set to expire, as archbishop Charles Scicluna made clear in his address to the US Bishops November 17, 2021:

Civil and criminal law enforcement need to investigate and prosecute the abuse of children and coverup of crimes using every means at their disposal, since the popes and bishops have repeatedly shown themsleves untrustworthy.

2011 Philadelphia County Grand Jury into further sexual child abuse and institutional coverup in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

2016 Report of the 37th Pennsylvania Investigating Grand Jury into activities of the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown.

2018 Report of the 40th Pennsylvania Investigating Grand Jury into child sexual abuse in six remaining dioceses in Pennsylvania: Allentown, Erie, Greensburg, Harrisburg, Pittsburgh, and Scranton.

2020 New York Attorney General Summons & Complaint against the Diocese of Buffalo, Bishops Richard J. Malone, Edward M. Grosz, and Edward B. Scharfenberger, in his capacity as Apostolic Administrator for the Diocese of Buffalo.
